 HOW TO AVOID BEING DECEIVED BY CHINESE TRADE PARTNER
All foreign traders believe that they know the importance of checking trade partners before deal.However,things often go down in different ways.Some talent trading companies root up deceived by their partners.
Recently,Simon received an email from a Canadian seller,in which the seller complained that the buyer in Kunming did not reply to all calls and emails although the goods are ready for shipment,also,the paid dollars went into the sea like a mud-made buffalo.
Simon investigated the buyer's office, two guards of the office building proved Simon's worry:all staff of the buyer ran away,and the buyer company had been shut down by the Kunming police two months ago.
The police disclosed shocking information to Simon: "this trade company not only deceived your Canadian client,but also cheated around ten businessmen from Germany,South Africa,Europe,etc.,we arrested one gay of this company,but he did not directly cheat your client,he deceived other foreigner,so you maynot charge against himself;The gays deceived your client have all absconded,you have to wait for arresting them."
Being satirised,the seller received another trade invitation letter from a trading company in Shantou city of Guangdong Province,during his case is investigated by the police.Simon believed that this is another trap,then provided this new clue to the police.
 Unfortunately,the deceivers who cheated the Canadian seller and other foreign sellers,except for the arrested man, are still running-out the laws,up today.
The more serious situation is that Simon received the similar complains from other foreign traders from time to time;Also,such kind of deceiving cases happened in other cities, which have been dislosed by some local news.
So, it is wandered that how did the deceivers successfully cheated them and get dollars? According to Simon's investigations,all deceivers put traps in such operations,in general:
Rent office rooms,buy some computers,find a person who speak and write foreign language;
Even, register a trade company with local government authority,getting business lisence and stamps for convenience of cheating negotiation and signing fraud contracts,appearing as a honest trader;
Open a bank account with a local bank,in general,with the Bank of China,in the name of a Chinese citizen, in general,some time also in the name of the trade company;
Appoint the english speaker contact the potential foreign sellers or buyers,in general ,through internet,say "we want trade products";
If a foreign trader appears, he will be invited as foreign guests to visit China ,asking him bring some gifts or pay some dollars.Later, "foreign guests" visit the Chinese partner's office.Everything looks fine,so a bilingual trade contract is reached and signed;
 The foreign trader will go home for goods arrangements,during this period, his Chinese partner will ask him remit some more dollars as so called "shippment fees,fees of customs declaration,commission fees,etc."
After the dollars remitted,his partner will find all kinds of excuses for delaying the deal,or ask remit more dollars,or if under suspiciousness,run away.
But,the point is,as a real trader,how could you give up all deals,shut the door and stay all daylong at home? just because there are some deceivers in China? More or less,there are some of such them in any country!
The right choice is to engage in effective distinguishing those deceivers from the honest traders.Some simple but safe meathouds will help traders:
Keep in mind that the true business lisence,stamps,office rooms should not blind your eyes;If you are asked to give some gifts or other values even before the contract is reached,you should ask you why? also do not forget to check "where are they from?",if they from Henan Province,you must be more becarefull.
The most simple and safe way is find a locally int'l lawyer, where your partner is located.No foreign lawyer or chinese lawyer who is not practising where your partner is located will find more complete and better information of truth than the local lawyers.
